Noel Pagan
Lead Trainer

Noel Pagan has been with the Chicago Mudcat organization since 2005, beginning as a Summer Camp Instructor and making his way to his current roles within the organization including Director of Player Development, a Head Coach for Boys’ Baseball program and Lead Trainer for Mudcat Fitness. In addition to his Mudcats responsibilities, Noel is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Lane Tech High School Boys Baseball teams.

Noel’s baseball career started at an early age and led him to Lane Tech High School where he was a Varsity catcher for three years and a member of three conference championship teams. Noel continued playing ball in college, both catching and pitching, at Oakton Community College and Judson University.

Noel is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM CPT) and began his personal training career at Dave Barton Gym (River North) in 2014. While at Dave Barton Gym, Noel not only worked one-on-one with Personal Training Clients, he also led group workout classes including spin and cardio. Noel is also AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certified.

In 2015, Noel, along with Mudcats Founder and General Manager Justin Stringer, initiated Chicago Mudcat Fitness, which provides both adults and youth with an array of fitness training options.

Noel’s expertise as a trainer includes performance enhancement, weight loss and fat reduction, hyperthyroidism, sciatica, and disk degeneration.

Samuel Legg
Exercise and Sports Performance Trainer

Samuel Legg joined Mudcat Fitness in May 2016. From a young age, Sam, a native of the Northwest side of Chicago, was active in sports and interested in fitness and how the body functions during sport-specific training. Sam attended St. Patrick High School in Chicago where he played Defensive Lineman for the school football team. At St. Patrick, Sam recorded 46 tackles with 18 solos and three quarterback sacks as a senior and was also named as the team's Defensive Lineman of the Year. Sam graduated in 2010 and attended McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois to play football. Sam started as Defensive Lineman for McKendree all four years of college. He served as Team Captain both junior and senior year and led the team to Conference Champions in 2011. 

Because of the huge role his coaches and trainers had on his life, Sam decided to pursue a degree in Exercise Science with a double minor in Sports Performance and Coaching. Following graduation from McKendree in 2014, Sam realized the monumental positive impact athletics and fitness had on his life and thus participated in an internship at McKendree Sports Complex for Exercise Science. In the Fall of 2015, Sam attended EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) school and gained EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician - Basic) Certification. 

Sam’s expertise as a trainer includes maximizing an individual’s speed and power output, and lifelong fitness and weight management.

Mathew Legg
Athletic Trainer 

Mathew Legg joined Mudcat Fitness in March 2016. Mat, a native of the Northwest side of Chicago, attended St. Patrick High School in Chicago and graduated in 2009. In high school, Mat was a two-year starting Linebacker for the school’s varsity football team. After being named team captain his senior year, Mat went on to play college football for Elmhurst College in 2009. Mat later transferred to McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois where he also played football for the Division Two team, and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Performance.

After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree, Mat worked at Athletico Physical Therapy before joining the Mudcat Fitness team. 

Mat’s expertise as a trainer includes rehabilitative exercise for clients with sciatica, knee injuries and lower back pain.
